This contraption consists of two thin-wall square tubes, each as long as the distance between the garage door tracks and seperated by something like 6ft. They are placed such that the T-handled manual door-raising rope just fits between them whether the door is up or down (so that the handle won't interfere with the door's movement when I use the automatic opener). Welded to the ends of these tubes are 3in. wide steel straps that I bent into angle end connectors. These are fastened to the tracks with 3: #10-32 BHMS on each end. I selected Button Head screws because they have a low enough profile to clear for the door rollers as they pass by.
Between the two cross-wise tubes I've placed a length-wise member with an attached short vertical tube which hangs downwards. This provides a convenient place to store an air hose where it's most needed, next to my mill.
